Innaanu Aa Kalyanam Malayalam Movie
The latest Rajasenan film to hit the screens, 'Innanu Aa Kalyanam' concerns itself with the business of getting married. Love precedes marriage of course, and the complications that ensue on account of it, forms the crux of this film.
Neelima (Malavika) has her heart fluttering for Karthik (Rejath Menon), but has been utilizing the services of her best friend (Ayesha) to communicate her feelings. Karthik eventually falls in love with Ayesha, and by the time he recognizes his silent lover, Neelima's dad (Saikumar) sets the stage for his daughter's marriage to NRI Krish (Ashokan).
In all likelihood, there must have been plenty of improvisation when it comes to the script of this film. There isn't a scene or a dialogue hence, which is still in mind, barely twenty hours after having seen this flick. You only need to listen to the conversational pieces between the business man dad and his manager (Maniyan Pillai Raju) to grasp that the efforts in the writing department are minimal.
Jagathy plays a guy who lives off the rich fellow, because he had donated two bottles of blood to the latter at some point of time. To bring in some comic relief, the affluent guy is shown to have developed a weird sense of appreciation for the action, with his intelligence having disappeared without a trace.
Why on earth would a girl in her right senses employ her pal to convey her love? And that too for such a long time, that he doesn't even notice her and falls for her friend instead? There shouldn't be questions asked in stories, they say, but a few blurt out the moment you see things getting as insane as in this film.
Why is it that on every college campus in Malayalam films, the Principal (Suraj Venjarammoodu) is having an affair with one of the teachers? And more important, why is it that almost every other Principal is a moron? Why is it that they don't realize that this is no laughing matter any more, and that this whole idea has been squeezed and re-squeezed beyond its potential?
I feel sorry for the four lead actors - Rejath, Roshan, Malavika and Saranya - since their involvement in the film looks downright earnest. They do try heard to believe in the thick stuff that they have been provided with, and struggle hard to make an impression. What they could be relieved about, is that acting is the only aspect of this film that doesn't give you reason to complain.
The last few endeavors at film making by Rajasenan have been catastrophic, and this is a not-so-pleasant addition to that list. In keeping with the mood of the times, there is only one line that comes to mind, having been through this filmi debacle - Why this Kolaveri, Kolvaeri, Kolaveri di???
