Every creative man is like software: Razdan

New Delhi, March 12 (IANS) Writer-director Karan Razdan of "Girlfriend" fame, whose three movies are set for March releases, says a creative man resembles a software from which story ideas come out.

Any director would be apprehensive about releasing three films together but not Razdan.

"You have to release it some day. So how does it matter?" Razdan told IANS.

His films - "Souten - The Other Woman", "Umar" and "Eight Shani" - would be released this month.

"Every creative man is like a software from which different kind of stories come out," says Razdan.

So it wasn't a planned move?

"No, not at all! I launched each film with six months gap. 'Eight Shani', which is a thriller, was started in June 2004 and completed last year. But floods came and destroyed all the computer graphics and it got delayed. We had to rework on it.

"'Souten' was launched in December 2004 and 'Umar' in June 2005 - it's just a matter of chance that all of them are releasing simultaneously."

Although his last two films "Hawas" and "Girlfriend" dealt with sex, his latest ventures deal with three different topics.

"Souten", starring Mahima Chaudhary, Vikram Singh and Kiran Rathod, is not a remake of Sawan Kumar's hugely successful film by the same name. The only similarity is the title.

"'Souten' is about a stepdaughter and stepmother falling in love with the same guy. I can't tell your more," says Razdan.

"'Souten' is produced by Naveen Kumar. He is Sawan Kumar's nephew. I narrated the story to him and he liked the idea. He said for this film 'Souten' is the apt title.

"Naveen promised to talk to his uncle. Sawan Kumar, who had seen my film 'Girlfriend' and was quite much impressed with it, very sweetly agreed to share the title with us."

"Eight Shani" is a supernatural suspense thriller. The film marks the entry of Vastavikta, daughter of veteran actor of yesteryears Rajkumar.

"She came to me through a friend. After some deliberations I decided to take her in my film. The film is about karma - it's about life after death. If something wrong happens to you, your spirits comes back to get justice."

"Umar" is the story of ageing parents who are mistreated by their children. Razdan teamed up with Prem Chopra, Kader Khan and Satish Kaushik for this film.
