Shiney booked for rape, wrongful restraint

Mumbai, June 15 (IANS) Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja was Monday charged with raping his 19-year-old domestic help, threatening to kill her and wrongful restraint and is likely to be in police custody for 15 days, police here said.

The actor has been booked under section 376 (rape), section 339 (wrongful restraint) and section 506 (threatening to kill the victim) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Medical tests were conducted on the actor and the victim early Monday.

"As of now, he is headed to the court for legal proceedings. But, in any case, he will have to stay here in our custody for at least the next 10-15 days before being sent to the jail," a police official told IANS.

The domestic help lodged a complaint with the Oshiwara police station in Andheri (West) Sunday evening and police summoned Ahuja for questioning.

The 36-year-old actor, who has featured in films like "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi" and "Gangster", has admitted to having a "physical relationship" with the woman, police said.

The actor is reportedly separated from his wife and lives alone in Mumbai. He has a daughter.
