'Hugo' wins best visual effects Oscar

Los Angeles, Feb 27 (IANS) Martin Sorcerese's "Hugo" is on award-winning spree. The film pocketed the best visual effects trophy for Rob Legato, Joss Williams, Ben Grossmann and Alex Henning at the 84th Academy Awards ceremony here.


"Hugo" is the 3D adventure drama based on Brian Selznick's novel "The Invention of Hugo Cabret". It tells the story of a boy who lives alone in a Paris railway station and finds himself embroiled in a mystery involving his late father and an automaton.


Other films nominated in this category were "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2", "Real Steel", "Rise of the Planet of Apes" and "Transformers: The Dark Moon".
