Ashok R. Nath's Mizhikal Sakshi
Sep 26, 2007 NRFor director Ashok R. Nath and for all film lovers in Kerala, the film Mizhikal Sakshi is going to be a big thing in many ways. For Ashok R. Nath, who had earlier directed Saphalam and December, his third venture Mizhikal Sakshi could help him take a big leap in filmdom. The film, produced by V.R. Das and V. Mohanlal (who had earlier produced Nerrkunerey, directed by veteran P.N. Menon) under the banner of Cyber Vision, sees the teaming up of some of the most accomplished of artists in filmdom.
The main attraction however is that noted poet-cum-lyricist ONV Kurup, veteran music composer V. Dakshinamoorthy and the divinely gifted singer Yesudas, who had teamed up in earlier days to give us memorable melodies, are coming together once again in the film after a long gap of twenty years. And to give them company in rendering the songs are two of the most accomplished female singers in Indian Cinema itself - S. Janaki and K.S. Chithra.
Another highlight of Mizhikal Sakshi is that it is veteran actress Padmasri Sukumari who will be playing the lead role along with an array of accomplished actors like Manoj K. Jayan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Saikumar, Nedumudi Venu, Kochupreman etc.
The pooja for the film was conducted at the Sree Chithra Poor Home in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, September 25 and the traditional inaugural lamp was lit by the State Education Minister M.A. Baby in the august presence of ONV Kurup, V. Dakshinamoorthy, Yesudas, Sukumari, Ashok R. Nath and many other eminent film personalities.
Following the pooja, the recording of a song rendered by Padmasri Yesudas was done at the Vismaya studio in Thiruvananthapuram. Ramu Mangalapally, who is the executive producer of the film, has stated that the film will start rolling this month itself at Ottappalam.
Mizhikal Sakshi features script by Anil Mukhathala based on story by Ashok R. Nath, cinematography by Ramachandra Babu, and art-direction by Manoj Kavumba. The film, according to PRO Abraham Lincoln, focuses on social issues of current relevance.
