Kochi, April 19 (IANS) Revellers at this year's Vishu festival tuned in mostly to music maestro Ilaiyaraja's songs in Kerala.

The top five Malayalam songs are:

1. "Aattinkarayorathe" - Film: "Rasathantram"; music: Ilaiyaraja; lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; singer: Manjari. This ranks as one of the most fabulously shot songs in Malayalam cinema in the recent times. The sequence has Meera Jasmine at her effervescent best.

2. "Oru thothavadi" - Film: "Pachakuthira"; music: Ilaiyaraja; lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; singers: Vijay Yesudas and Jyotsna. A fast-paced number with beats, this will prove to be a sure shot hit with the youth in the coming days.

3. "Thevaram nokkunnunde" - Film: "Rasathantram; music: Ilayaraja; lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; singer: Vineeth Sreenivasan. The success of the song proves that Vineeth's unconventional voice suits everyone. Here, he gives voice to veteran Mohanlal.

4. "Kalikonda chamundi" - Film: "Pachakuthira"; music: Ilayaraja; lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; singer: M.G. Sreekumar. This is a typical song used in Malayalam films to give pace to some comic situation. M.G. Sreekumar, an expert at rendering such numbers, has done full justice to the song.

5. "Poo kumkumappoo" - Film: "Rasathantram"; music: Ilayaraja; lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; singer: K.J. Yesudas. Yesudas and Ilayaraja are a heady combination. And when the song is woven nicely into the story, it creates an out-of-the-world experience.
