Mayavi – the first super hit of 2007

What if Mammootty didn't bag the State Award for the best actor? His fans have even greater reasons to be happy. Mayavi, Mammootty's first film in 2007, has turned out to be the first super-hit of the year, grossing over Rs. 2.2 crore in its first week itself.

Released on the 3rd of February, this Shafi-directed film has proved to be a thorough entertainer and continues to run to full-houses at all releasing centres. In the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram itself, the film has grossed about Rs.11 lakhs in its first week, from two theatres.

Mammootty, who has a huge fan following in the Malabar belt, has succeeded in eliciting a great response there and the film is just doing great everywhere else. It is expected that the film will continue to rake in money till the next biggies get released during the Vishu Season, in April.
