Shaji's Gaatha to start in 2009

It's been long since Shaji N. Karun had announced a film named Gaatha, based on the short story Kadal penned by noted Malayalam short-story writer T. Padmanabhan.

The internationally acclaimed filmmaker (who had made films like Piravi, Swaham, Vaanaprastham etc) had initially announced the film with Mohanlal and Jaya Bachchan in key roles, and intended to shoot the film extensively in North India. But somehow things went on getting delayed. In the mean time Shaji N. Karun made Nishaad, AKG and other short films.

Very recently Shaji has started shooting for his latest film Kuttishranku, with Mammootty donning the title role. And now, reports come in that the director is all set to revive Gaatha, though it is not sure whether he will use the same title or not.

The film is likely to start rolling next year with Mohanlal donning the lead role, though it is not known as to who would be playing the female lead role. Let's stay tuned for more news on the film!
