The 'Kayam' controversy has maligned me: Anil

Dec 18, 2010 NR

Cochin, Dec.18 (NR): Director Anil, whose latest film 'Kayam' has got into a controversy after its heroine Swetha Menon protested against its posters, has stated that more than Swetha, the film has maligned his image as a family film maker.

"The controversy regarding the publicity hoardings of 'Kayam' have affected me more than Swetha Menon. Because I am a family film maker. I have always done films that have appealed to a family audience. But this controversy has tarnished my image as well," Anil revealed to a popular film magazine.

"Mine is a clean film, with a very pertinent theme in it. I also believe that the character that Swetha essays in the film would be a mile stone in her career."

"The stills that have been used in the posters have been selected from the flash cuts. They have been used for commercial purposes and there is nothing wrong in it either. What went wrong was when the same posters were used to promote a sex stimulant. I don't see anything wrong in Swetha being upset on the issue," Anil added.

'Kayam' that also stars Bala, Manoj K Jayan and Aparna is getting readied for an year end release.
