Vineetha and Kavya team up for Benares

Music is the central theme of Benares, a love story being directed by Nemom Pushparaj with Vineeth and Kavya Madhavan doing the lead roles.

Vineeth plays the role of Hari, who is doing research in folk dance at Benares Hindu University, while Kavya plays the role of Amritha, who is also doing research on various dance forms at the same university. The last time they acted together was in Vadakkumnathan starring Mohanlal.

Others in the cast include Navya Nair, Nedumudi Venu, Suresh Krishna, Devan, Vijay Menon, Harishree Ashokan, Suraaj Venjaramoodu, Jagathy Sreekumar, Binish Kodieri, Anoop Chandran, Urmila Unni, Bindu Panicker etc. Benares is being produced by MR Nair, who for the last 30 years has been doing business in the holy city. He also provides the story for the film, for which Cherian Kalpakavadi does the screenplay and the dialogues. P Sukumaran does the camerawork. Lyrics composed by Girish Puthencherry are set to music by M Jayachandran.
