Chennai, July 10 (IANS) Yet another work of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's will be made into a movie, its actor-turned-producer-director R. Thiagarajan told reporters Thursday.

Thiagarajan's son Prasanth plays the main protagonists Ponnar and Shankar in the film. "Ponnar Shankar" was penned by Karunanidhi during the sixties.

The historical characters Ponnar and Shankar belong to the Gounder community that is mainly found in modern day Coimbatore, Erode and Salem districts of Tamil Nadu and several parts of Karnataka.

"When we met the chief minister and expressed our desire to make the movie, he said my son fitted his imagination," Thiagarajan said.

"When we conveyed our decision to the CM about my offer to play both the roles, though Kalaignar initially wanted different actors for the main characters, he relented," Prasanth told reporters.

The next project of his company would be based on Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (dealing with matrimonial cruelty), Thiagarajan said. Prasanth's marriage to Grihalakshmi was saved in the nick of time from the verge of a messy divorce last year.

"I want the world to know the other side of the law and how it works against innocents," Prasanth added.

Karunanidhi's short story based in medieval Tamil Nadu "Uliyin Osai" (sound of chisel) was released last week.
