Anushka's name mentioned for a historical film

Tollywood director Gunasekhar will be doing a mega Tamil-Telugu bilingual historical film on the life of Rani Rudrama Devi, one of the prominent rulers of the Kakatiya dynasty (1259-1289). Anushka’s name is mentioned for the central role. Her character in the period-film ‘Arundathi’ brought her laurels. She has done a couple of Tamil films also. At present she has six or seven films in hand. 'Thandavam' is the latest film featuring her.



The actress has gone abroad and will return in a few days. According to her spokesperson, Gunasekhar’s team has expressed interest in casting her in the film. On her return she will go through the script and make her decision.



Months after the release of his ‘Nippu’, Gunasekhar announced his big budget ‘Rudrama Devi’ project. He has been working on the script since ‘Okkadu’. In a recent statement, he said that he is making efforts to take his dream project on floors. “The time is right for making Rani Rudrama Devi now as the needed technology is available,” he further stated.
