National award winner "Sringaram" is releasing on Sept. 21 after a year-long wait. Directed by Sharada Ramanathan, the film features Manoj K. Jayan, Aditi Rao, Sasikumar, Chandrasekhar and many others. Madhu Ambat is the cinematographer and Violin maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman is the music director. The dance choreographer is Saroj Khan.

The story revolves around the life of Devadasis (temple dancers), who were social castaways in olden days. No distributor had come forward to release the film fearing about its commercial success.

Even while remaining the cans, the film has won three national awards for music (Lalgudi Jayaraman), cinematography (Madhu Ambat) and choreography (Sarojkhan).

Following the announcement of the awards recently, GV Films have bought the distribution rights and decided to release the film on Sept.21.

Director Sarada Ramanathan said that as it is a "period film" it could be released any time and so they waited and the time has come now.

Telugu and Kannada versions of the film are being released in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and the English version in America and South Africa. The Director claims the film has won more than ten international awards.
