Bala spikes rumours about Vikram

Director Bala, who is directing the new film "Nan Kadavul", has spiked Kollywood rumours that actor Vikram will be replacing Arya as the hero in the film.

Bala admitted that Kollywood was abuzz with these rumours after his recent meeting with Vikram in some other connection.

He categorically ruled out the question of replacing Arya with Vikram.

He said the shooting of the film would start at Kasi on Nov.19 and the crew would leave for the temple town on Nov. 17. As Bala's present plan works out, the film would be ready for release in February next. A photo session with Arya and Bhavana, who is playing opposite him, is already over.

Originally Ajith was chosen for the lead role and he had started preparing himself for the role which required that he should appear thin with long, flowing hair. After Ajith was ready with a new look which took considerable time, he was replaced with Arya. This sudden and surprise change has contributed mostly to the delay of the shooting of the film, according to sources.

When Bala's attention was drawn to the talk about Vikram taking the place of Arya following his meeting with Vikram, the director dismissed it as "rumours" and said he would make the film with Arya in the lead.

Producer Thenappan, when contacted, confirmed Bala's statement and said the shooting would commence at Kasi on Nov.19 and continue for one month there. There is no question of replacing Arya, he asserted.
