One of director Bala's assistants, Elango, has joined the rank of directors and his first film is "Pirappu" (Birth).

The film has all news faces except Karthika who has acted in "Thuthukudi". She is playing opposite Prabha who is making his debut as a hero. He is related to director Lingusamy. Another lead female character is Mayuka from Kerala.

The cinematographer is none other than Balu Mahendra's son, Shanki Mahendra.

Bharadwaj has scored the music. The audio was released recently and most songs are well done if the trailer is any indication.

Giving the outline of the story of "Pirappu", director Elango says every birth on earth has a meaning and purpose. Though born equal, individuals become what they aspire to be by their own efforts and work. Some even develop into men of divinity and mahatmas. 'Pirappu" is about one who is born different.

Elango worked as senior to Amir (both assistants to Bala) for the film "Nanda" and Amir has already become a director.
