The ban imposed by producers on actor Madhavan has been lifted after the actor personally apologised to them and denied having made any remarks hurting their feelings.

The Tamil Film Producers' Council had taken exception to his remarks in a recent magazine interview that "no Tamil film producer is forthright and they are unethical and do not honor their commitments".

The council, which formally met last week, unanimously decided to issue a "red card" to Madhavan and asked the council members not to sign him for their future projects.

Producers' Council Secretary A.L. Azhagappan said: "The statement Madhavan has made in the interview has really upset all of us."

Following the Council's decision, Madhavan wrote a letter to Vijayakanth, president of the South Indian Artistes Association, denying having made any remarks that producers were not honest and were unethical. Madhavan, in his letter said, he would apologise if he had hurt their feelings.

Madhavan then visited the office of the Producers' Council and apologised to secretary Azhagappan.

Presently, Madhavan is acting in a film "Thambi" under Seema's direction.
