Big Music buys 'Kuselan' audio for a record price

The audio company, Big Music, has bought the audio of "Kuselan" for a whopping Rs. 2.25 crore, the highest for a Tamil film so far.


G.V. Prakash has scored the music for the film which features Rajinikanth, Pasupathy, Nayanthara and Meena.


Prakash's uncle A.R. Rahman is expected to be the chief guest at the official audio release function on June 30. K. Balachander of Kavithalaya, which along with Seven Arts produced the film, will be among those attending the function.


Big Music is bringing out two lakh CDs and cassettes. They will be on sale from July 1 at all music outlets in the country and abroad, according Umesh Pai, general manager (south), Big Music..


Rajinikanth features in three of the five songs in the film, which is a remake of Malayalam hit "Katha parayumbol". His introduction song, 'Cinema, cinema', is sung by Shankar Mahadevan to mark the occasion of 75 years of Tamil cinema. Another number which features Rajini and Nayanthara is 'Om Zaarare' (seven minutes) sung by Daler Mehendi, Chitra and Sadhana Sargam. Pasupathy and Meena feature in one song and briefly appear in another.


Director P. Vasu has gone on record saying the superstar has one hour of screen time of the film's two hours and 40 minutes running time.


The previous audio sales record was set by Rajini's 'Sivaji". Around four lakh CDs and cassettes of the film are reported to have been sold.
