Dhanush to act with Bhagyaraj in 'Ashokamithran'

Master story-teller K. Bhagyaraj is back in action again after some interval. He and Dhanush are teaming up for a new Tamil movie "Ashokamithran".

"Asokamithran" is Karu Pazhaniappan's story. "When he narrated the story to me I was literally floored and I decided to accept the film," Bhagyaraj said.

Bhagyaraj is known for his distinctive style of filmmaking and has given more than 100 films, which were all hits at the box office.

'Everyone knows my method of filmmaking. For me, the hero of a film is the screenplay," he added.

Pazhaniappan, who's "Parthiban Kanavu" was a success, is in charge of story, screenplay and direction for "Ashokamithran".

The film is to be produced by "Salem" A.Chandrasekaran, whose earlier movies include "Sullan" and the recent "February 14".

Pazhaniappan said has done the casting according to the story and the people will accept this when they see the film. He expressed happiness that Bhagyaraj, who himself is a 'brilliant' screenplay writer and director, has accepted the role as the father of Dhanush in "Asokamithran".

Gopika pairs with Dhanush and Suhasini plays the hero's mother. Vidyasagar is the music director and R.Diwakar, cinematographer. The other technicians include Suresh Urs (editing) and Super' Subbarayan (stunts).

Dhanush has finished Balu Mahendra's "Athu Oru Kanakaalam" which is slated to be released this month. Then he has his brother Selvaragavan's "Puthupettai" produced by Lakshmi Movie Makers.

Dhanush says he needs a big hit and 'am now acting with Bhagyaraj. Asked why he has not made any film for some time, Bhagyaraj said his last three or four projects had floundered creating financial problems. As he was acting in those films, he took the responsibility to help the producers out. The films were eventually completed and released. This disrupted his-own plans. "I am now ready to take up new projects. I want to come out of the groove and be creative".

With Karu Pazhaniappan handling the story, screenplay and direction for "Asokamithran", Bhagyaraj will focus on the creative aspects of the film with his inimitable style.
