Diwali feast awaits Tamil film fans
Nov 6, 2004 IANS Nov 6Chennai, Nov 6 (IANS): Half a dozen Tamil releases will hit the screens this Diwali.
These are "Neranja Nenju", "Chatrapathi", "Attahaasam", "Manmathan", "Dreams", and "Jananam".
"Neranja Nenju" stars Vijaykanth, the high-profile president of the South Indian Film Artistes' Association. The two leading ladies are Susan and Mahima.
Samudra Kani directs "Neranja Nenju", a film of the G.J. Combines. Karthik Raja will score the music.
Muscular Sarath Kumar, the DMK's film mascot, plays the lead role in "Chatrapathi". His heroine is Nkitha of "Kurumbu" fame.
Sri Mahesh directs the film, a production of 33 Good Films. A.S. Rajkumar scores music for "Chathrapathi", which has been shot in Bangkok and the twin towns of Kulu-Manali in Himachal Pradesh besides several locations in Tamil Nadu.
A special feature of the film is that it has five villains for Sarath to vanquish.
Ajith, who has recently renounced car racing, runs a driving school in "Attahaasam". He also plays a local goon. Paired with him is Pooja, the second lead in "JJ".
Saran directs the film, a production of Karthikeyan's Vijay Cine Combines. Bharadwaj's music is expected to be a highlight of the film.
Young star Silambarasan, Simbu to fans, and experienced heroine Jothika come together in "Manmathan". A.J. Murugan directs the film that has been produced by S.K. Krishnakanth for Indian Theatre Productions.
Simbu plays a serial killer, with women as his victims. Several Mumbai-based models play the victims.
Dhanush stars in "Dreams" that is being released exactly a week before his wedding. His heroine is Diya. Dhanush's father Kasthuri Raja directs "Dreams" for producer Sirikanth.
Arun Kumar and Priyanka Trivedi play the lead pair in "Jananam". Arun claims that this film will do for him what "Sethu" did for Vikram.
T. Ramesh directs the film, which completes a Diwali hat trick for music director Bharadwaj.
