DMK, Vijayakanth contribute to quake relief fund

Chennai, Oct 14 (IANS) The DMK and well-known Tamil film star Vijayakanth have contributed towards the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for helping victims of the Oct 8 earthquake.

The DMK has donated Rs.4 million, while Vijaykanth has given Rs.500,000.

Of the DMK's contribution, the party and the DMK Trust contributed Rs.1 million each while party MPs gave a day's salary. They also collected donations of Rs.2 million, a statement from DMK chief M. Karunanidhi here said.
