Gauthams Surya-starrer Vaaranam Aayiram hits the floors
Nov 27, 2006 P.V. Sathish KumarGautham Menon's Surya- starrer "Vaaranam Aayiram" (1000 elephants) has hit the floors. The director and the actor are keen to repeat the magic of "Kaakha Kaakha" which was a runaway hit.
The launch of the shoot on Nov. 24 was made memorable with the crew members taking to a disco floor with gusto at a star hotel in Chennai, the venue of the function.
Making a film is a team effort and Gautham Menon is one who keeps this in mind always.
Music director Harris Jayaraj, editor Anthony and art-director Rajeevan are Gautham Menon's team in "Vaaranam Aayiram. They have been together since 'Minnale'.New to join the bandwagon is Cinematographer Rathnavelu. Lyricist Thamarai, choreographer Brinda and action director Stun Shiva are also in the team.
On the launch at the disco floor, Gautham said, "We are excited about the film and we know it is going to be a lot of hard work. So, we thought we would ourselves loose on the dance floor first to unwind before the take-off."
Gautham clarified that his new movie's title is "Vaaranam Aayiram" and not "Udal, Porul, Avi" as reported earlier in the media. "I just can't figure out when people have started giving titles to my films," he wryly commented.
Actor Surya for whom "Vaaranam Aayiram" is the first film after his recent wedding with actress Jyothika, expressed confidence that the new movie would take him to the next level."It is the most exciting story I have ever heard after "Kaakha..." and "Ghajini".Gautham is one of my favorite directors and once again he is giving me an awesome author- backed role." Surya made it clear that it is not a cop story and the character is something that he has not done so far.
Since "Nanda", Surya has donned a variety of roles and has managed to create a niche for himself in Tamil films. The heroine of the film is yet to be finalized though quite a few names are being mentioned. Basically, "Vaaranam Aayiram" is said to be an action film packaged as a thriller. Says Gautham "I don't want to speak anything about the film right now, but it is a youthful film".
"Pachaikili Muthusaram": Goutham's "Pachaikili Muthusaram' starring Sarath Kumar and Jyothika has been completed and would be released by Oscar Ravichandran early next month.
