Group protests English titles in Tamil films

Chennai, Feb 15 (IANS): A group against the use of English titles in Tamil movies Tuesday protested at a film shooting here.

Officials said that volunteers of the Tamil Protection Movement were demanding that director S.J. Surya's film "BF" (Boy Friend) should not have English titles.

Witnesses said Surya met the volunteers at the studio gate and agreed to consider the demand.

The group had recently also threatened to disrupt the shooting of actor Kamal Hassan's new venture "Bombay Express".

Political parties such as the PMK and DPI have backed the protests and demanded legislation against English subtitles in Tamil movies.
