Ramana Communications which produced the biographical film titled "Kamaraj" (Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu) in Tamil and English, has taken up another similar project. This time it will be on Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.

The new film has been titled 'Mudalvar Mahatma'.

Kanakaraj, who acted as Gandhi in the film 'The King-maker' in English, will play the role of "Mudalvar". The cast will include Tamil and Hindi film artistes. The production team also will consist of technicians from Kollywood and Bollywood.

According to sources, the shooting of the film will start in a month.

The story dwells on what Gandhiji would have done for the country if he were alive today! He contests and wins in Assembly elections in one of the States and becomes the State's chief minister ("Mudalvar').

Gandhiji, who won the country freedom from the British using the weapon of non-violence and satyagraha, was assassinated before he could realize his dream of establishing a 'Rama Rajyam' in the country. He never wanted any position or power during his life-time.

Just as non-violence and peaceful satyagraha which formed the plank of the freedom struggle shook the conscience of the world, a revolutionary plan for an egalitarian society which the Mudalvar launches astounds the entire mankind.

The film would serve to remind the people of the Mahatma's principles of non-violence and communal amity for which he laid down his life.
