Chennai, Sep 15 (IANS) Former Miss Universe India second runner-up Pooja Hegde feels as an actress, she should be open to all kinds of roles and not restrict herself to any genre.

"It's too early in my career to dedicate myself to certain type of roles. I want to play different kinds of roles with longer screen time," Pooja told IANS.

A model-turned-actress, she strongly believes modelling gave her the confidence to turn to films as both professions require one to spend more time in front of camera.

"Acting requires lot of patience and self-confidence and I learnt the same from modelling. Having spent hours in front of camera for photo shoot, today acting to me comes easily with some supervision," she added.

A commerce graduate, Pooja has been modelling for three years and says she's been receiving plenty of offers over the years. However, she waited for the right opportunity.

"I've been getting lot of offers from Bollywood, Tollywood and other industries as well over the years, but I waited for the right opportunity," said Pooja, who debuted in Tamil superhero film "Mugamoodi".

Asked about "Mugamoodi", she says the experience was invigorating. "I thoroughly enjoyed working with director Mysskin, from whom I learnt a lot which I can use in my films going forward. Jiiva, on the other hand, was very supportive and patient. He's very accommodative and understanding as a hero."

Pooja, who's still basking in the success of her debut film, has currently a few films in the pipeline, both in Tamil and Telugu.

When not acting, she likes to travel to different places and listens to music. She is also a voracious reader and spends some quality time watching English soap operas.

Summing up, Pooja said: "One should not get carried away by fame and stardom. An actor should always remember where he or she has come from and acknowledge it to be successful in the industry."
