A stage actor, Shazahn Padamsee was appreciated for her performance in her father's (Alyque Padamsee) play, 'Unspoken Dialogues. Last year, she entered films with 'Rocket Singh-Salesman of the Year.' This week, she makes her debut in the south film industry with 'Kanimozhi' in Tamil and 'Orange,' a Telegu film. In a conversation with Mythily Ramachandran, Shazahn opens up on her films.

Role in Kanimozhi

'I play this attractive college student who is strong in her beliefs. Jai, my co-actor plays the hero who falls in love with her. It is an interesting romance that happens in the mind.'

Working in the south

It has been an amazing experience. People here are thorough professionals and punctual, as well as warm and down to earth. I loved the food.

Language barrier

Yes, it was hard, but then I love challenges.

On the sets of 'Orange'

My character is a young bubbly girl, who is Ram Charan's ex. She is possessive and emotional. It is an interesting plot and the story moves in flashback mode. It was good to work with director Bhaskar.

Upcoming projects

In Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji,' I play June Pinto, a Christian girl. She is young, confident and mature. She interns with Ajay Devgan and a bond develops between the two. It's a romantic comedy.

Role selection

I am open to versatile acting and not doing just one kind of characters. I am keen on doing different kinds of cinema including experimental films and Hollywood too.

Dreams ahead

I would love to work with Mani Ratnam. My dream role is Rani's in Black.
