'Kaadhal' continues to top Tamil charts
Mar 3, 2005 Aparna Nath, Mar 3Chennai, March 3 (IANS) Despite a case filed against it by a Madurai school, Tamil film "Kaadhal" has managed to stay afloat.
The realistic approach of director Balaji Shaktivel has appealed to people belonging to all sections of society. "Kaadhal" continues to top the Tamil films this week.
1. "Kaadhal": It has been a dream come true for Balaji Shaktivel and Shankar's production house, S. Productions. With the stupendous success of "Kaadhal", its young hero Bharath has been flooded with offers.
2. "Thirupachi": It was a big disappointment for Vijay fans as it was no match to his earlier successes like "Gilli" and "Madure". Still, a Vijay film is the best bet for any producer. Though not a big hit by Vijay's standards, this is the only Pongal film that has managed to survive.
3. "Sukran": This is the 60th film directed by S.A. Chandrasekhar, better known as Vijay's father now. Though the hero is Ravi Krishnan, "Sukran" has now become a Vijay film, although the actor appears only in the second half. Vijay's fans have fallen in love with the second half of this otherwise violent, illogical film.
4. "Ji": This Ajith starrer, directed by Lingusamy, is the biggest disappointment of the year - a big blow to Ajith as well as Lingusamy. After a week, "Ji" was pushed to the fourth spot by two Vijay starrers, "Thirupachi" and "Sukran". What has turned against the film is the 30-something Ajith acting as a collegian.
5. "Ayya": Directed by Hari for Kavithalaya with Sarath Kumar as both the father and the son, this is not an exciting film but it has survived. It barely manages to stay alive, but is by no means a hit.
