Kaja Moideen blames Ajith for his woes
Jul 22, 2005 P.V.Sathish Kumar, Jul 22The mystery surrounding the reported suicide bid by film producer Kaja Moideen has deepened with his statement blaming actor Ajith for all his troubles.
Earlier this month, the producer had reportedly taken too many sleeping pills and tried to end his life. Newspaper reports in this connection were all in the realm of speculation suggesting that he had taken the extreme step because of difficulties over the production of his film 'Vettaiyadu Velayadu' directed by Gautam featuring Kamal Hassan and Jyothika.
At a press conference on July 18 Moideen said newspaper reports following his suicide bid were all based on rumors and rejected them as baseless. Referring to the reports that he was in a "mess" over the Kamal film, the producer said he had taken the extreme step because of "some other persons" in the industry. "Kamal Haasan or the unit of 'Vettaiyadu' is in no way connected to it. I will disclose all the details at the appropriate time' he added.
He did not name anyone at the press conference. Kamal Hassan and Goutam Menon, who is to direct the film "Vettaiyadu Velayadu", were present at the press conference along with Kaja Moideen. Kamal said had Moideen faced any trouble, "he could have told us and it could have been sorted out". He announced that the shooting of the film would begin soon. Kamal said they were planning to go to the US for the shooting and were just waiting for the formalities to be completed.
Director Goutam Menon said he was shocked here the news and now he is happy that Kaja Moideen is back at work. "We are moving at a brisk pace and have finalised the whole project beautifully. The film will be starting soon." Menon told the reporters at the press conference.
A couple of days later, Moideen openly accused Ajith and alleged that the unprofessional ways of the actor had led him to attempt suicide. The producer even went to the extent of calling Ajith a "sadist" and charged that "it was an act of revenge".
Moideen charged that Ajith had delayed the shooting of "Jana" for almost two years and this resulted in his losing Rs.8 crores.
When media persons contacted Ajith who was in Hyderabad shooting for the film "Godfather" directed by K.S. Ravikumar, he said Moideen's charge was unfounded and he did not want to waste his time reacting to such statements.
An English daily quoted his spokesperson, as saying that Moideen's blaming Ajith at this juncture for the flop of "Jana" which was released in 2004 was only to conceal hidden motives. Ajith would be back in Chennai after a week after completing his shooting of the film.
With Moideen dragging Ajith's name into his alleged troubles and suicide attempt, the episode has taken a new twist and turn.
