Kamal, Nayanthara top awards list

Kamal Haasan and Nayanthara top the list of actors and actresses selected for Chennai Film Fans Association awards for the year 2006. Gautham Menon has been adjudged the best director. "E" has been selected as the best film of the year. The special award goes to director K. Balachander for Poi.

Justice Jagadeesan of Madras High Court announced the list on Sept.2.

Award winning actors:

Kamal Haasan (Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu), Ajithkumar (Thirupathi), Jeeva (E).

Nayanthara (E), Sandhya (Dishyum), Uma (Illakkanam).

Special award: K. Balachander (Poi)

Pasupathi (E), Prakash Raj (Sivakasi), Renuka (Poi), Vadivukkarasi (Thirudi).

Best new faces: Harikumar (Thuthukudi), Karthika (Thuthukudi), Dhanya (Thirudi).

Best comedian: Karunas (E)

Best playback singers: Unnikrishnan (Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu) and Chithra (Thuthukudi).

Films: E (Supergood Films), Pachakuthirai, Dishyum, Ilakkanam.

Best story: Thirupathi (director Perasu).

Best director: Gautham Menon (Vettaiyadu Vilayadu)
