Kamal's daughter Shruthi to enter films

Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruthi is preparing herself to enter filmdom as a heroine next year. She disclosed this to a Chennai newspaper on Aug.7.

She has completed her studies in New York (US). In California she has learned music. According to her, though she has lived in the US for a long time, she has not changed to western culture. Her culture is still rooted in India and she is an Indian and a Tamil woman at that, she says. Even her friends in US tell her this.

The western influence has had no impact whatever on Shruthi and though an increasing number of students in US are falling prey to drugs and habits that are alien to their native culture, she has taken care to keep away from such harmful pastimes. "My main concern is that I should not cause any distress to my parents."

Shruthi says she has plenty of opportunities to take up acting. Though at present she is busy working on her music albums, she is training and preparing herself to enter films. She will be ready to take the plunge next year.

She will not give up music and will continue her work in the field of music also. In the past film actors would themselves sing songs in their own voice while acting. "The best example now is Hollywood actress Jennifer Lopez who is my role model," Shruthi added.
