Almost five months ahead of the planned release of Rajinikanth’s ‘Kochadaiyaan’, its makers, Eros International and Media One Global Entertainment, have their marketing strategy already in place. Producers, big and small, realizing the importance of marketing a film to make it big at the box office, earmark a sizeable portion of their budget to promote films through various channels of publicity. The makers of ‘Kochadaiyaan’, not daring to put all their eggs in the basket of ‘Brand Rajini’, have drawn up plans for a high-power publicity campaign right from now. Dr. Murali Manohar, a co-producer of the film, believes “marketing is not just about how much you make out of a project but how you make much out of it.”

As part of their marketing strategy, Eros and Media One intend releasing the audio of the film in Tokyo, Japan, where the superstar is said to have a good number of fans. The film will be premiered in London, Log Angles and other cities.

The makers have tied up with Karbonn mobiles, and five lakh ‘Kochadaiyaan’ mobiles will be launched to cover a wider fan base.

According to a release from Eros and Media One, the mobiles will have exclusive screen savers and images from the film along with the trailer and signature tune of the film. They will also contain behind-the-scenes footage, movie trailers and songs. The back panel of these mobile phones will bear the digital signature of Rajini. The mobiles will be released in September/October coinciding with the audio release.

‘Kochadaiyaan’, an action adventure made using performance-capturing technology, is slated for release on Nov.13 (Deepavali) in four languages – Tamil, English, Hindi and Telugu. Apart from the superstar, the film has Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff, Sarathkumar, Nasser, Aadhi, Shobana and Shabana Azmi in the cast. Sounarya Aswin Rajinikanth helms the project, assisted by director K.S. Ravikumar. A.R. Rahman has scored the music.
