Lakshmi Manchu's flood-themed movie impresses Rajinikanth

Chennai, Oct 15 (IANS) Superstar Rajinikanth, who is considered a man of few words, surprised Telugu actor-producer Lakshmi Manchu when he praised the subject of her upcoming Telugu-Tamil bilingual "Gundello Godari".


The film revolves around two love stories against the backdrop of 1986 Godavari floods. It depicts destruction and pain caused by the natural disaster.


"There can't be a blessing bigger than this for us. Rajini uncle came to the studio to spend time with his friend," Lakshmi Manchu tweeted.


Lakshmi plays Chitra in the film, a character who likes to indulge in cock fighting.


A source told IANS: "Rajini sir went to the studio recently in Chennai, where the film's re-recording was happening and learned from Lakshmi about the subject of the film. He was impressed with the novelty of the subject and immediately congratulated Lakshmi and the entire crew."


A set was erected on 20 acres in Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. As many as 120 houses and huts were built to shoot "Gundello Godari", which also stars Tapsee Pannu, Adi Pinisetty and Sundeep Kishan. It is directed by Kumar Nagendra.


"Gundello Godari" is being simultaneously made in Tamil as "Maranthen Mannithen" and Ilayaraja has composed for both the versions.


Currently the film is at re-recording state and Telugu version's audio is expected to come out Oct 17.
