Nine new films to light up Deepavali
Oct 13, 2006 P.V.Sathish KumarAs the festival of lights, Deepavali, draws near, the film industry is bustling with activity. Till today, as many as nine films are ready for release on Oct.21. This is cheering news for the film buffs who look forward to this occasion.
This is the first time in ten years that so many films are hitting the screens in Tamil Nadu on the same day.
No films of Vijay, Vikram and Surya are among the Deepavali releases.
The films lined up for release are:
Ajith's "Varalaaru" (Godfather)
Simbu's "Vallavan"
Saran's "Vattaram"
Vijayakanth's "Dharmapuri"
Jeeva's "E"
Sarath Kumar's "Thalaimagan"
S.J. Suryah's "Thirumagan"
Arjun's "Vathiyar"
Srikanth's "Kizhakku Kadarkarai Salai".
Of these films, Ajith's "Varalaaru "and Simbu's "Vallavan" are competing for a big share of the Deepavali market with distributors of the two films are vying with each other to capture most territories. Lower down the list come Arjun's "Vathiyar" and Srikanth's "Kizhakku Kadarkarai Salai".
Two Hindi films, "Don" and "Jann-e-Mann', are also vying for space.
