'Ondipuli' makers invite Benny Cook's grandson for audio launch

'Ondipuli' is a film on the looming water crisis in Tamil Nadu. The importance of water is stressed in the movie directed by P. Rajaguru and produced by B.S Studio.


The drama revolves around the Mullaperiyar dam built by the British under the co-ordination of Benny Cook. The story is Benny Cook's grandson comes to have a look at the dam built by his grandfather. He is pained to see floodwaters during rainy seasons running off to the sea. Like his grandfather, he wants to do his bit to prevent this wastage of precious water. He along with a popular leader plans to build check dams. How they tackle the problems they face while implementing the plan is the crux of the story.


An American, Frayn, acts as Benny Cook's grandson.


Selvin who played the lead role in 'Nai Kutty' is the hero in this flick. A new face, Eleena Hassan, who works in a German consulate, plays opposite Selvin. Ponvannan, G.M. Kumar and 'Paruthiveeran' Sujatha play the supporting characters.


James Vasanthan is the composer and Vijay Armstrong is the cinematographer. Veteran director Bhimsingh's daughter Sucharita Chander assisted B. Lenin in editing the film.


Director Rajaguru said they have decided to invite Benny Cook's grandson Johnson Cook to attend the film's audio launch function.


The shooting started on Dec.11, 2011 and completed in one schedule. Locations were in Tuticorin, Tiruvannamalai, Ramanathapuram and Kanyakumari regions. Click the Movie button below for more info:
