Rajnikanth is preparing to leave for the US for the shooting of mega movie "Robot" to be directed by Shankar. The shooting will begin on Aug. 10 and a dance sequence will be filmed first.

Rajini stated this while talking to mediapersons at Tirumala on Aug.3 night. Earlier he had darshan of Lord Venkateswara. He said he prayed for the success of his latest film "Kuselan" and also "Robot". (It is customary for Rajini to offer worship at Tirumala at the start of the shooting of a new film and after its release.)

He had a VIP darshan of Lord Balaji around 8 p.m. and mediapersons met him as he came out of the temple. Replying to their queries he said he would be leaving for the US in a couple of days for the "Robot" shoot and he had no idea how long he would be staying there.

The film is to be produced at an estimated cost of Rs 120 crore by Mumbai's Eros International and Ayangaran International.

After "Sivaji: the Boss" produced by AVM, Shankar has teamed up with Rajini again to make "Robot" which is touted as Shankar's dream project.

A few weeks ago, A.R. Rahman composed a song for "Robot". It is this song which will be filmed first when the shooting begins in US on Aug.10. It is not known whether Aiswarya Rai, who plays the lead against Rajini, will feature in this song.

A day after the release of "Kuselan", Rs. 40 lakh was distributed among the 70 technicians who worked for this film. The function was attended among others by Rajini and K. Balachander.
