'Ram' doing good business

Chennai, April 2 (IANS): The daringly different film "Ram" is the top grosser and could continue doing good business till April 14 when three new releases are lined up.


1. "Ram": With this film, director Ameer lived up to the expectations generated by his earlier "Mounam Pesiyathe". The story of "Ram" is about the relationship between an autistic son and his mother. Instead of a tearjerker, Ameer made it into a thriller. The film starts with the murder of the mother with her autistic son lying by her side. Yuvan Shankar Raja's music has contributed a lot to the success of the film.


2. "Kannadi Pookal": (Director K. Shahjahan) The success of this small and tender film is mainly due to word-of-mouth publicity. Women seem to love this family drama.


3. "London": (Director Sundar C.) Remade from a Mohanlal-Priyadarshan Malayalam film, it provides unadulterated laughter. It remains among the top five as there are no new releases.


4. "Thirupachi": (Director Perarasu) Thirupachi The film was a big disappointment for Vijay fans as it was no match for his earlier successes like "Gilli" or "Madurai". However, it has been declared a hit!


5. "Maayaavi": (Director Singapuli) "Maayaavi", the first film from Bala's production house is the biggest disappointment of the year. It is an embarrassment for an actor like Surya and also Jyothika.
