Saran's deal with Ayangaran for Kamal film
Mar 29, 2007 PVSDirecor Saran has reportedly struck a deal with Ayangaran for his planned next venture starring Kamal Hassan. The deal has been finalized after several rounds of talks between Saran and Karunas, who is the London owner of Ayangaran International.
Under the agreement, Saran would make the film in the first basis and Ayangaran would be the official producers. Ayangaran is said to have offered Saran a huge amount.
Saran had been planning for long to make a film with Kamal Haasan in the lead for his home banner, Gemini Productions. He had been writing the script for the past eight months and had waited to launch the film after the completion of "Dasavatharam" which is touted as Kamal's magnum opus.
However, Saran's plans had changed after the release of Muni" which was produced under his home banner, Gemini Productions, and directed by Raghava Lawrence. Saran had faced a financial crunch for release of "Muni" and it was the distributors, Ayangaran International, which came to his help, it is said. "Muni" was released on March 9 in both Tamil and Telugu.
Saran vehemently denies any problems between him and Lawrence with regard to "Muni". While "Muni" was being shot, Lawrence was unavailable for 20 days for he had to work for "Sivaji" and choreograph dances for a Chiranjivi-starrer in Telugu.
"Muni" facilitated Lawrence's entry into Tamil after a gap of four years and he had the chance of both directing and acting in the film, claims Saran.
