Sarath Kumar-starrer 'Nam Nadu' launched
May 23, 2007 PVSThe shooting of "Nam Nadu" with Sarath Kumar and Tamanna playing the lead roles, have started on May 23 in Chennai. It is a remake of a Malayalam hit "Lion" which had Dileep in the lead.
The film was originally named "Azhagiri" but later this name was dropped for obvious reasons. One of the MGR films was "Nam Nadu". This title has been adopted for the Sarath Kumar-starrer as he adores MGR.
The screenplay and direction is by Suresh who has to his credit "Arasu," "Supreme" and "Sabari".
Sathyamoorthy, who produced Vijay-starrer "Pokkiri", presents "Nam Nadu". The producer is Ramesh Babu under the banner of Kanakarathna Movies. Actor Rameshkanna has written the dialogues. Srikanth Deva provides the music .The team includes G. Sasikumar (editor), Shivayadav (art) and Super Subbarayan (stunts).
The story is about the vortex of politics which sucks father and son into it resulting in an emotional struggle between them.
Tamanna, who plays opposite Sarath, had made an impressive debut with Jothy Krishna's bilingual film "Kedi" in Tamil and "Jadoo" in Telugu. Subsequently, she acted with S.J. Suryah in "Vyabari" which had three heroines. In "Nam Nadu" petite Tamanna plays a very practical girl who is a big source of support to the hero in politics.
The shooting locations are Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Pollachi and Ooty. Dance scenes are planned to be shot in foreign countries.
