'Sivakasi' remains at the top

Chennai, Dec 9 (IANS) Several films hit the screen after Diwali but Vijay's "Sivakasi" continues to remain at the top. Among the new releases, a soft family film titled "ABCD" by Saravana Subbiah manages good business - definitely good news for actors Shaam and Sneha.

1. "Sivakasi"; Director: Perarasu: The director has already moved on to his next project "Thirupathi" with Ajith, but no Tamil film has been able to remove his recent release from the top position.

2. "ABCD"; Director: Saravana Subbiah: Subbiah's previous film "Citizen" starring Ajith, an action flick, failed miserably at box office.

But "ABCD" is packed with emotion. The story is as old as old wine (one man and three women) and it has captured the imagination of people. A relief for actor Shaam whose last film "Ullam Ketkume" was a moderate hit.

3. "Ghajini"; Director: Murugadoss: Actor Surya's "Ghajini" is a huge hit at box office. In fact, this film can be described as one of the biggest hits of 2005.

4. "Majaa"; Director: Shafi: A remake of hit Malayalam film, "Thommanum Makkalum" starring Mammootty, Lal and Rajan P. Dev, is a big disappointment.

5. "Kasturiman"; Director: Lohitadas: "Kasturiman" is a Tamil remake of the Malayalam film with the same name.

The original Malayalam version starring Meera Jasmine and Kunchako Boban, was a huge hit but this film has so far failed to impress the audience.
