Chennai, March 16 (IANS) Actor Ajith is keeping his fingers crossed that his new film "Tirupathi" will seal an image makeover he began with "Paramasivan".

Scheduled for release April 14, "Tirupathi" has been directed by Perarasu, who also directed "Thirupachi" and "Sivakasi", both big hits starring Vijay.

Like Vijay, say industry sources, Ajith is hoping to gain a mass appeal across Tamil Nadu with the film.

As with "Thirupachi" and "Sivakasi", "Tirupathi" is named after a place, now a talisman for Perarasu. The film, however, is not set in the pilgrimage town of Tirupati. The film's title is the hero's name.

The film's audio was released on the lawns of AVM Studios here Tuesday. Flaunting a ponytail and flanked by spouse and former star Shalini and leading lady Sada, Ajith looked every inch the urban idol he is.

In a month's time, the audiences will decide if Ajith's makeover is successful.

"Tirupathi" is the 167th film to be produced by the AVM banner.
