Tamil heroines who made it big in 2005

Chennai, Jan 14 (IANS) When a new year begins, it is time to look back at the winners. Asin emerged as the top favourite after her hit film "Ghajini".

The top five actresses are:

1. Asin: As the fun loving naughty girl with a heart of gold, Asin's performance was superb in "Ghajini" and she occupies the number one position.

2. Trisha: Trisha is concentrating more on Telugu films these days. Yet her "Thirupachi" with Vijay was a hit.

3. Meera Jasmine: National Award winning actress Meera Jasmine was brilliant in "Kasturiman" and adorable in "Sandakozhi". In both the films, Meera gave the impression that nobody could have done the roles better than her.

4. Laila: With two hits, "Ullam Ketkume" and "Kanda Naal Muthal", in her kitty Laila is at number four. It had been a great year for the actress who is getting married this month.

5. Nayanthara: She entered Tamil filmdom with superstar Rajnikant in "Chandramukhi". Now she is known as the glamour queen of Tamil and Telugu cinema and is one of the busiest actresses in southern India.
