Unbeatable Rahman's 'Desam' audio on top
Jan 17, 2005 IANS Jan 17Chennai, Jan 17 (IANS): That A.R. Rahman is king seems to be the verdict of Tamil music fans. His albums have repeatedly topped the charts. Unsurprisingly, Rahman's latest effort, "Desam", is at the top for the second week in a row.
1. "Desam" (Music by A.R. Rahman): The music can be summarised in two words - quintessentially Rahman. The movie has not done badly either, as Chennai's cine-goers have always liked Shah Rukh Khan. But it is the music that is creating waves.
2. "Chathurangam" (Music by Vidyasagar): After fast-paced tracks in "Gillie" and several other movies, with this album Vidyasagar proves himself adept at composing an entirely different genre of music.
3. "Manmadan" (Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja): Though Raja hit a rich form with "7 G Rainbow Colony", he has not quite lived up to that with his compositions for "Manmadan". His run of success, however, continues, with the album doing as well as has the movie.
4. "7-G Rainbow Colony" (Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja): The album appears on the path to musical immortality. It has been on the charts for a long time and appears unlikely to be dislodged soon.
5. "Chellamey" (Music by Harris Jayaraj): What can be said of "Chellamey" but that its music is delectable and that the videos are awesome! Whether or not the videos are a key to the success of the movie, it is clear that "Chellamey" is one of 2004's biggest musical hits.
