Chennai, July 25 (IANS) In the battle between music directors Yuvan Shankar Raja and Harris Jayaraj, it appears that the former has scored this time. His latest album "Vallavan" has toppled "Vettayadu Vilayadu" fair and square.

The top five Tamil albums are:

1. "Vallavan" - Music Director: Yuvan Shankar Raja - Call it aggressive marketing, but "Vallavan" is virtually unbeatable among Tamil albums today. "Loosu penne" by Silamabarasan and Blaaze is the most sought-after song in the album.

2. Vettayadu Vilayadu - Music Director: Harris Jayaraj - Even after many weeks, the song "Partha mudhal" by Bombay Jayshree and Unni Menon from "Vettayadu Vilayadu" is the most popular song in the album.

3. "Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi": Music Director: Sabesh-Murali. The songs take you back to the music of the 1950s, and even the singers have sung in that style. The accent and the novelty of the old have placed the album in the top slot.

Of course, the film is one of the biggest hits of 2006.

4. "Parijatham" - Music Director: Dharan - "Unnai kandane" by Haricharan and Shruthi. The immensely popular number from the film, is played on radio and television channels all the time.

5. "Thalainagaram" - Music Director: D. Imam - When the film is a success, it is but natural that the album also gets into this list. The popular song in the album is "Yetho ninaikaren" by Manjari and Devan Ekambaram.
