Captain Vijayakanth kick-started his next movie "Swadeshi" on Tuesday (27th June) with considerably less fanfare at his residence at Saligramam in Chennai.

The movie is being produced under his home banner Captain Cine Creations that has given many of his hit films such as Vallarasu, Narasimha, and Thennavan.

J.P.A.Y (wonder what a name!) who has worked as an assistant to many leading directors makes his directional debut with "Swadeshi". Kitchas another newcomer is cranking the movie camera. Female lead and the remaining cast are yet to be decided.

Vijayakanth plays a bucolic character that comes to Chennai in search of livelihood. In the city, he undergoes many struggles for taking up the cause of the downtrodden and fighting for their justice.

Coming close on the heels of the launch of his political party in September, Vijayakanth is believed to have packed strong doses of political overtones in Swadeshi. Fans and even some in political circles believe that Vijayakanth will use this movie as a medium to convey his political maneuvers, especially with an eye on the coming assembly elections.
