Yuvan Shankar Raja's 'Ram' tops the charts
Mar 3, 2005 Aparna Nath, Mar 3Chennai, March 3 (IANS) Yuvan Shankar Raja, the youngest son of maestro Ilayaraja, now rules the Tamil film music industry. Not a single album of his has so far disappointed, and "Ram" is only the latest in his long list of hits.
The top five Tamil albums are:
1. "Ram": (Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja) It continues to top the list though the film is yet to release. The best song in the album is a lullaby by Yesudas, reminiscent of his "Kanne Kalaimane" from "Moondram Pirai". Every song in the album is a masterpiece.
2. "Kaadhal": (Music by Joshua Sridhar) The film is a success, and so is the music. The biggest hit of the album, of course, is "Thottu thottu" by Haricharan, Harini and Sudhaar. Instead of capitalising on the success of his maiden album, Joshua Sridhar has done all things wrong -- first eloping with his girlfriend and then cheating another producer. The latest news is that he has been arrested for cheating.
3. "Thirupachi": (Music by Mani Sharma) "Thirupachi" is not an album worth writing about. It is mediocre fare from composer Mani Sharma. But because it is a Vijay film and he dances well some of the songs became hits after the film's release.
4. "Ji": (Music by Vidyasagar) "Ji" is an average album by Vidyasagar. "Gilli" was Vidyasagar's last big hit and that was early last year. The only song that is interesting in the album is "Kiliye kiliye" by Udit Narayan and Sujatha.
5. "Devathaye Kandein": (Music by Deva) Another mediocre album makes it to the top five. With the film doing decently, the songs from the album have also started appearing in the charts.
