Vijay 61 could be titled as Thalapathy

Vijay 61 featuring Ilayathalapathy, Samanatha, Nithya Menen, Kajal Aggarwal and others is directed by Atlee. The film is yet to be titled and there were talks that it could be Moondru Mugam and that Vijay is doing 3 roles.

But as per the latest buzz, the unit is planning to title the film as Thalapathy. It may be recalled that Thalapathy is the title of Superstar Rajinikanth-Mani Ratnam-Mamootty film of the 90s which was a blockbuster hit. Inside sources say that the team has bought the title rights from GV Films which produced the Rajinikanth film.

Meanwhile, it is said that the unit will be leaving for the UK to finish few important sequences. They are also planning to release the first look and teaser for the Tamil New Years Day, 14th April. All along Vijay was called as Ilayathalapathy and perhaps with the film’s release, he may knock off Ilaya from his title. Let us wait for official information.
