Veyil Marangal (MALAYALAM)
Indrans , Prakash Bare , Master Govardhan Saritha Kukku
Director: Bijukumar Damodaran
Critic Rating:
User Rating:
After being displaced by circumstances, a three-member family living in an inland island is desperately looking for shelter. It might be an irony that filmmaker Dr Biju gives a colourful interpretation to the struggling tale of the marginalized section. Accompanied by a simple and subtle presentation, the metaphoric visuals remind us of the burning reality of survival. A blend of powerful theme and equally striking visuals. Read Review
C U Soon (MALAYALAM)
Fahadh Faasil , Roshan Mathew , Darshana Rajendran Maala Parvathi
Director: Mahesh Narayanan

Critic Rating:
User Rating:
Unfolding fully through mobile device and laptop screens, 'C U Soon' is an unprecedented format in Malayalam cinema. The portions of the actors were shot separately following social distancing norms, but C U Soon is a real-time conversational film. The basics of filmmaking and storytelling always apply, and Narayanan's film excels in both departments. Read Review

A serial killer is on the prowl in the city targeting only police officers. The clueless cops led by a female officer and a private criminologist are on the hunt for him. The path of investigation in 'Anjaam Paathira' is hardly free from flaws yet the decent attempt is engaging. Read Review
Halal Love Story (MALAYALAM)
Indrajith Sukumaran , Grace Antony , Sharafudheen Joju George
Director: Zakariya
Trailer |
Critic Rating:
User Rating:
Zakariya Mohammed blends religion with cinema within a cinema to make a thoughtful work on love and kinship in Halal Love Story. Always engaging, and occasionally too simple to a fault, this love story is not overpowering as Zakariya's first film, Sudani from Nigeria. Nonetheless, it is a timely satire on the two things most of us feel but cannot quantify: kinship and love. Read Review
Trance (MALAYALAM)
Fahadh Faasil , Nazriya Fahadh , Dileesh Pothan Gautham Vasudev Menon
Director: Anwar Rasheed
Trailer |
Critic Rating:
User Rating:
Trance is anchored by a powerful Fahadh Faasil performance. Also in the technical department, the film is exceptionally well made. Amal Neerad's career-best work as a cinematographer, Resul Pookutty's sound design, background score by Jackson Vijayan and Sushin Shyam, and most notably, Ajayan Challisery's art direction. Together with Fahadh Faasil, the technical members put in their A-game to make Trance quite a transcendent watching experience. Read Review

For a travel movie, Jeo Baby's 'Kilometers and Kilometers' may not break new ground, but it finds fresh, respectable ways to tell a familiar story without many cliches. It is a story of Josemon, a handyman who finds himself stuck in Rajasthan with a foreigner and with many financial troubles running through his head. Read Review

Despite its familiar theme, 'Varane Avashyamund' is infested with typical ornaments required for a feel-good experience that is consistent throughout. It is a simple and uneventful family drama with the right dose of delightful moments. Read Review

Writer-director Khalid Rahman asks us to make giant leaps of faith in Love, a bizarre thriller with one twist too many. It is an odd attempt at making a cautionary tale on the effects of anger on love. It is also a bit of a head-scratcher, to say the least. Read Review

A strong bond between man and vehicle is the focus of 'Gauthamante Radham'. The family develops an emotional attachment to their first car as it becomes a part of them. A seemingly good concept loses its flair once the gear is shifted to familiar events. Read Review
