Demolition review

Demolition

English · 2016

'Everybody hurts!' Sang Michael Stipes. But looks like Jake Gyllenhaal's character is unable to grieve in the 'normal way' after his wife's death and we have to watch him struggle in the most bizarre ways, until you want to slap his entitled ways and run him over with his own bulldozer 'bought on e-bay'.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant review

The Divergent Series: Allegiant

English · 2016

The third and the final film of the Divergent series comes after so long, you actually have to Google the first two films. Then the heroine of the film Tris does nothing, nothing in the film that endears her to you. You watch the pointlessness of the apocalyptic world slowly and double check Google to find out if there are any more sequels planned and thank the gods there isn't.

Kung Fu Panda 3

Amazing to hear familiar voices - and a couple of new ones - tell us the story of the Dragon Warrior who is facing a new adventure. This time from a scary warrior from the spirit world with a chi-sapping technique. The humor is unrestrained as before and we become children again as we watch Po and his friends defeat the baddies and have time to gorge on dumplings.

Ki & Ka review

Ki & Ka

Hindi · 2016

One trick pony, too thrilled with itself for offering us a concept that a man would be happy to be house-husband while the woman of the house earned a living. It's interesting for the first twenty minutes, but then the film dives face first into problems that are so made up, so fake you wonder if they thought the film through beyond the 'concept'.

Rocky Handsome review

Rocky Handsome

Hindi · 2016

Director Nishikant Kamat piles on horror upon horror to make John Abraham the action star that he has been in his earlier films like Force. But the horrors are so unbelievable - tourists being killed for their organs, kids kidnapped and killed for organs and thievery, drugs, guns, builder mafia - and executed so laughably, so over the the top that there's unintentional laughter instead of tension.

Eye In The Sky review

Eye In The Sky

English · 2016

Watch it if you're an Alan Rickman fan and do not wish to miss out on his last appearance on the big screen. But although the movie is tension filled war themed, there is so much cross talk about right and wrong and politics, that you want to snatch the controls from the hands of a weepy soldier and press the send button on the missile yourself.

Bus 657 review

Bus 657

English · 2016

The movie was originally called Heist and is being released in India as Bus 657. Alas, the name change does not help the story that moves from implausible to ridiculous: after robbing a casino the robbers board a bus and take people hostage. The robber with a heart of gold even gets away with it.

Teraa Surroor review

Teraa Surroor

Hindi · 2016

The trailer you watched is far superior to what you watched for two hours. Everything happens so slowly, you want to take the hero's gun (he's just posing with it!) and shoot yourself with it, or at least someone in the movie just to get a reaction from them.
