Cheran plays the role of a hairdresser and Navya Nair is a beautician in a salon. Today’s youth are the centre of the film’s theme. Cheran promises that the film will be highly entertaining and also send out a strong message. Radha Ravi, who has taken a break for a while from acting, dons a role unusual for an actor like him. Actors Sarath Kumar, Arya, Malavika and Ranjitha make cameo appearances. The music is by Ilayaraja and the audio cassette and CD have registered a record sale in the State. Dwarakanath is the cinematographer and veteran producer Panchu Arunachalam’s son, Subbu, produced the film.

This is comedian-TV personality Chinni Jayanth’s second directorial venture, his first being “Unakkaga Mattum”. Jayanth is staging a comeback to cinema after a gap of 23 years. He made his debut in “Kai Kodukkum Kai”, and has acted in 308 films. Besides directing , Jayanth has written the story, screenplay and dialogue for “Kaanal Neer”. He introduces a new face, Riteesh, who is the grandson of State Minister Suba Thangavelu, as the hero. Actress Manisha from Mumbai debuts as the heroine. The theme is man can be regarded as God if he owns his mistakes and inflicts punishment on himself. Chinni plays the role of a mentally challenged person. At the end of the film, he appears as a 90-year-old person. Newcomer Sriram has composed the music.
